3-ingredient Nutella Brownies Recipe
This easy recipe only requires 3 main ingredients! A jar of Nutella is the star of these delicious brownies that are loaded with rich and fudgey chocolate hazelnut flavor. And the best part is obviously that you only need 3 ingredients to make them – Nutella, eggs, and a little bit of flour. No need to get out tons of ingredients and measuring cups to make brownies.
Rich chocolate brownies that are quick and simple to make in an 8×8 baking dish. If you love the flavor of Nutella then you must make these brownies. I would even bet that they’ll quickly become your favorite brownie recipe
Only 3 Simple Ingredients Needed
- Nutella
- Large Eggs
- All-Purpose Flour : I use unbleached all-purpose for for my baking. I don’t recommend using whole wheat flour; stick with all-purpose flour or even a 1:1 ratio gluten-free flour works also.
- Chocolate Chunks : This is completely optional and just adds more chocolate!
How To Make Fudgy Nutella Brownies (Printable Recipe Card)
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 8×8-inch square baking pan with cooking spray or line it with a sheet of parchment paper that has been cut to fit. I like to leave an overhang of parchment paper to make the brownies easy to lift out and cut.
In a large bowl, add the Nutella and large eggs. Stir together, with a spatula or wooden spoon, until well combined.
Add in the flour and gently stir just until combined.
Transfer the brownie batter to the prepared pan.
Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the brownies comes out clean.
Remove the brownies from the oven and allow them to cool inside the pan before cutting into squares. The brownies can be eaten warm or cooled down to room temperature.
What Are Some Substitutions I Can Make?
- Eggs : You can use an egg replacement if needed. Another option is 2 tablespoons of potato starch mixed with 3 tablespoons water, mix until smooth and pour it into the batter. 1/2 cup of applesauce will also work as an egg replacement. I have never personally done these substitutes but they can be done if needed.
- All-Purpose Flour : Use a 1:1 gluten-free flour for a GF option. You will want to add an extra egg if using gluten-free flour. If you’re familiar with other flour substitutes then just make sure you do the correct ratio; I know coconut flour or almond flour are other options out there but I have never worked with it.
- Optional Chocolate Chunks : I love adding a little extra chocolate but you don’t need to! Instead of chocolate chunks you could use chopped hazelnuts, chocolate chips, mini chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, or even white chocolate chips or white chocolate baking chunks.
How Should I Store Leftovers of Nutella Brownie Recipe?
Any leftovers of 3 ingredient Nutella brownies should be stored, covered at room temperature, for up to 3 days. You can leave the brownies inside the pan and cover the pan with a lid or plastic wrap, or remove the brownies to an airtight container for storage.
To freeze the devious brownies, I recommend wrapping each brownie in plastic wrap and then again in foil. Place the wrapped brownies inside a freezer-safe container or bag, and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge over night and bring the brownie to room temperature before serving.
Serving Suggestions
The brownies are delicious eaten as-is, of course, but here are some other ideas for serving!
- Ice Cream : Top the brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, chocolate ice cream, or chocolate chip ice cream. I love serving the Nutella brownies slightly warm with a scoop of ice cream on top, that way the ice cream melts into the brownie.
- Syrup or Sauce : Drizzle some chocolate syrup or caramel sauce over top the brownie. You could also sprinkle some chopped nuts over top for a salty crunch. Use chopped hazelnuts, pecans, or walnuts.
- Make Brownie Sundaes : Make ice cream sundaes and use a brownie slice as the base! Load it up with ice cream and all your favorite ice cream toppings.
Recipe FAQ’s
How can I make these fluffier?
To make fluffier and less fudgy brownies, add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda. These brownies are not cakey brownies – like these Homemade Brownies – but rather they are denser and fudgier.
Can I use homemade Nutella, or does it have to be store-bought?
Yes, you can use homemade Nutella if that’s what you prefer. I have never tried making my own Nutella but you could try this Homemade Nutella recipe.
Can I freeze the brownies in individual squares?
Yes, these brownies freeze beautifully, and I love freezing them in individual slices so that way I can pull one or two as needed. I recommend wrapping each brownie square in plastic wrap and then wrapping it again in foil. Place the wrapped brownies inside a freezer-safe container or bag, and freeze for up to 3 months. Grab what you need and let it thaw in the fridge, and then bring it to room temperature.
These brownies seem to have lost that fudgy texture when they were sitting on the counter top for a day to two. What should I do?
If found that microwaving these brownies for about 30 seconds will help restore some of that fudgy texture.
Can I add salt for a more sweet & salty taste?
Yes, you can definitely add a pinch of salt to the brownie batter or on top of the brownies if you prefer more sweet & salty flavor. I recommend using sea salt, flaky sea salt, or kosher salt when baking.
